Hi there!

Zapier’s mission is to make automation work for everyone, make everyone more productive at work, and help teams supercharge their business processes.

We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Product Design to elevate our UX design practices across the teams that support our new Enterprise product, as well as global Search and Information Architecture. Reporting to the Director of Product Design, our ideal candidate knows the craft of UX and Product Design well, has experience coaching and managing multiple designers to create high impact, customer-centric solutions at a rapid pace.

You will be responsible for taking our Enterprise product to the next level (to the stars!) as well as figuring out how to design our Search and IA as we launch new products and capabilities. You will have direct management over the Product Designers within these teams (3-4 designers), and partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to shape product strategy and vision.

Why Join Us? Join us at Zapier, where ambiguity breeds innovation, and the unexplored is the canvas for remarkable discoveries. Early days signify endless potential, and challenges are catalysts for extraordinary creations. Here, we're rewriting the norms and shaping the future of user-centric design.

Zapier is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.

Even though our job description may seem like we're looking for a specific candidate, the role inevitably ends up tailored to the person who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if you meet these criteria:

About You

  • Can do and lead the craft: With 8+ years of experience designing and delivering high impact software products and 3+ years of product design management, you have a deep toolkit of frameworks and processes for the E2E product design craft. From problem discovery and alignment, design exploration, facilitation, and important cross-functional collaboration - you know all that it takes to ship customer value. And you can lead a team of designers and partners to do that.
  • You create clarity and opportunity for your team: As a design leader, you are continuously looking closely at your team from 360 degrees - their work, their communication, their collaboration, their process, their partnerships, etc. and finding ways to help them succeed. When you need to, you go deep into the details. When someone is not succeeding you provide important feedback and set them on the appropriate path for themselves and for the business.
  • You advocate for our users and high quality experiences: You are first and foremost a strong advocate for our users and insist on a high level of quality across our product. You also understand how to balance this with the business requirements (eg. speed to delivery, increasing ARR, etc.)
  • You are a systems thinker and have a bias for action: You effectively see the forest and the trees. Whether at the business level, team level or pixel level - you can identify and diagnose areas of misalignment or areas for improvement and come up with effective tactics that you execute on.
  • You lead with vision: Where you see disjointed experiences or gaps, you jump on the opportunity to create a vision that will guide teams forward. You do this through excellent communication—visual, written, and presentation—and collaboration, leading productive sessions that keep your partners and stakeholders involved throughout.
  • You seek feedback to grow: Growth through feedback is ingrained in your approach to work and life. You actively seek input early and often, setting ego aside for constructive feedback, acknowledging weaknesses and areas where you could grow.
  • Experience scaling a product for Enterprise customers: You have designed in this space before and understand the table stakes for admins of Saas software – security, governance, and observability.

Things You’ll Do

  • User centered design strategy: In partnership with your Eng and Product leads, and with deep customer insights, you’ll provide strategic direction and leadership to the teams in your zone.
  • Mentorship, coaching, and collaboration: Act as a mentor and coach, nurturing the professional growth of team members, while fostering strong working relationships with cross-functional partners to ensure cohesive efforts, alignment of objectives, and successful project execution.
  • Performance management: Drive the creation and execution of user-centered strategies, leveraging insights and experiential learning to shape product development and design decisions, while continuously assessing and improving UX processes and advocating for best practices.
  • Team empowerment, communication, and iteration: Empower and enable the team to thrive in an environment of experimentation, iterating on concepts based on user feedback and business needs. Effectively represent the UX perspective, communicating design rationale and strategies clearly to stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding, and encouraging a culture of open feedback and iteration.

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of education or companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com

Application Deadline:

The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled.
